Season 1

We are still in the process of finalizing some details regarding our season. Check back regularly for updates!

The Play's the Thing
Edited and directed by Iris Raine Paul
Riverwalk Theatre's Dart Black Box
August 17, 2019 - 7 PM
This performance is free to the public

Our inaugural season opens with an extended version of The Play's the Thing, the show we performed at the East Lansing Art Festival 2019 in May. Taking characters and scenes from several plays by William Shakespeare and knitting them together into a cohesive one act play, this show examines questions of diversity within his works, highlighting vulnerable populations within our community. Following the performance, we will be holding a panel discussion with representatives from community organizations that work to support these populations. The themes of the play will be discussed as well as the vital work these organizations do every day.

Staged Readings

In addition to the above shows, The Curtainless Theatre will host two staged readings of original works by local authors based on classic stories during our 2019-2020 season.

The first, held in December 2019 (specific date TBD) is Monsters by Sarah Murphy. This play is a reimagining of the tragedy of Antigone, daughter of Oedipus.

The second, held in May 2020 (specific date TBD) is Grimm by Kris Vitols, Ann Marie Foley, and Logan Kilpelä. This play tells the story of the Brothers Grimm, folklorists and collectors of fairy tales and highlights a few of these tales.

Staged readings will be held in the auditorium on the lower level of the downtown branch of the Capital Area District Library*. Keep an eye out for additional details coming soon!
